First Impressions…

Late evening yesterday and I had a most interesting experience.  I was walking home when I ran into a man who looked pretty shabby, dirty and tattered.  He asked if I knew where the closest Sainsbury’s was to which I responded and pointed him in the right direction.  He thanked me, gently walked on and I continued my journey.  It dawned on me few minutes later how my initial thought process was far from ideal and far from what I have actually done.  I realized a part of me had initially wanted to avoid him.  I reckon this was due to his countenance and how I thought he wanted to ask for change or solicit help of some sort.  I had put him in a box based on his physical appearance.  I’m glad I didn’t follow through with this thought.  And I write this not with an air of judgement of any kind but with a sense of sensitivity and awareness of what happens within us all as human beings.  They tend to come from an incomplete picture and negate the fullness of life.  Sometimes we follow through with these promptings sometimes we don’t.  I reckon this crossroad is what makes life tricky.

I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
