Older male friends tell me about their experiences from living with the same woman for two to three decades; some joke for me never to do it, others say it has many benefits. Older female friends speak of sacrifices they’ve made for their families which makes them feel fulfilled; others moan about the lack of available good men. My god daughters scream with joy every time they see me; they are glad to have an older brother who genuinely openly engages with them and doesn’t push them to act grown up. Hanging with other young adults and we socialise in different ways depending on the company, time and energy levels. We discuss the changing world, personal relationships and plans for the future. Right now, it’s cold and breezy outside with rain gently falling; I’m at mines with a cup of coffee stretched out on the sofa. Like different shades of a rainbow that will fill the skies after, I’m reminded that my world is filled with personalities in different stages of life and I feel blessed to have them. My sincere desire is that we all enjoy the beauty that life has to offer and appreciate whatever stage we are at; like they say – the days are long but the years are short.
I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
