I’m not very comfortable with the idea of carrying someone else’s baby; especially when it’s a new born.  I tend to avoid such situations as much as possible and decline the invitation should it come up.  I know for some this might sound weird but that’s just the way it is with me!  They are so tiny and delicate, I wouldn’t want to risk anything going wrong; maybe it’s the perfectionist in me.  It came up the other day while hanging with some friends.  To my surprise, the baby was kind of dumped into my arms and I came face to face with my fear!  I held her for  about 3 seconds before she broke out crying; I gladly handed her back to her mom.  She’s an adorable, sweet and lovely girl but I concluded it best we remain friends from a distance.  Her mom laughed out loud and explained that baby’s tend to generally feel the emotions, temperament and state of the person carrying them and react accordingly.  They basically repeat or resound the prevalent energy in the moment.  Later reflecting on this experience, I realise this is generally human nature as we tend to mirror, conform and echo situations we find ourselves in; some more than others.  I find this very interesting.

I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
