Sometimes, I can’t help but overhear conversations; I’m sure I’m not the only one who can relate to this. You don’t exactly set out to eavesdrop on others but in a public or shared place and with some high decibel voices, one can’t help but hear things! So recently I was on a train out of town for the weekend and a group of guys seated few rows away from me were discussing the Brexit and the best option for the country. Their gist was full of sarcastic humour with stereotypical references to different countries and cultures; they disputed which was better from an economic, social and religious perspective. I only overheard bits of the exchange but it was clear behind every joke some true opinions were expressed. I thought to myself how this was likely a snapshot of the greater world and this is how some likely see and think about others. With this experience, I was reminded of differences and the main reason why things are what they are at the moment. I believe this is our world and until we start treating it as us, not them versus us, things will remain the same. I believe we are the solution to our problem.
I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
