What’s going on?

So the other day, I was en route home by tube and the lady next to me was reading a magazine.  I caught a quick glance at a page which headlined that depression in London was at an all-time high.  This got me thinking about the wonderful and great city I’ve been a part of for almost 5years.  London is a top notch global city and I’m having an amazing time here.  Yet at the same time, there’s a lot of loneliness, pain is prevalent and many homes aren’t really happy.  Alcohol, drugs and sex serve as distractions or escapes for the mind as much is invested here, so an increase in depression over the years seems only normal.  And I guess that accounts for the popularity of psychiatrists, vacation retreats and therapy sessions as a solution to these hurts.  There’s a lot of suffering going on as money is made, technology is advanced and politics plays on.  There’s not much focus on the heart of society and how we feel as individuals.  I wonder how this came about and if there’s even a slight chance it would change?

I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
