Eventually…

I’m part of a Fintech firm with a headcount of 40 people globally.  Six are based in London and we’ve got a pretty decent working relationship.  We are all different in terms of personality, quirks and desires; it is very interesting when they interact.  One of my colleagues comes to mind right now and it’s regarding the desk arrangement on the new floor we were scheduled to move to.  We had all selected our places but he hadn’t as he was on vacation that day.  Upon his return, he categorically refused the plan as he felt he had been given a raw deal.  We had about 3 weeks to make this move and he wasn’t happy with our arrangement.  So he moaned about it every other day, pitched new options with us and even brought it up with our CEO.  He didn’t feel first come first serve was his lot in this situation and pushed hard with a keen desire to have his way.  To my surprise, when we made the move, he got the seat he had always wanted!  I personally admire his determination and persistence and can see how in reality, nothing is really impossible if one is willing to pay the price.

I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
