Double Trouble…

Last Saturday, I took my god daughters out; one is 6 and the other is 9 years old.  As you can imagine, this was new for me and I felt a bit of anxiety as I drove to pick them up.  At their request, we ended up at the O2 Center to see Inside Out in 3D with popcorn, chocolate and sodas.  We then went grocery shopping and to my place for a short while before I took them back home.  It was a good day spent and I had a great time listening to their jokes, holding hands and playing with them.  I remember they told anyone we ran into that I was their best uncle!  And for some reason I liked that.  They are really expressive kids, innocent in mind and free to the world; I really hope I can continue to be a positive influence in their lives as they blossom into beautiful ladies.  In hindsight, I realize this experience was a tiny measure of what it takes to be a good parent.  I think it’s not easy and want to use this post to send a big shout out to all parents, particularly single parents, who are currently in this position.  Well done!  I’m told the more I do it, the easier it gets.  I think only time will tell!

I would love to hear any feedback, suggestions or stories about your own journey…
